Achievement Unlimited 2 provides personal tutoring and mentorship, educational advocacy, and behavioral health support so children and families can thrive through their public education experience and beyond.

Our father, Michael J. Zizzamia started Achievement Unlimited in 1968 with a mission to equip at-risk children of Hartford with the necessary skills and self-esteem to help them see the opportunities and possibilities available to them. He thought that with his tutoring program, he would have every student in Hartford reading in five years. He didn’t achieve that lofty goal, but his never-wavering support for the kids changed their lives. His love for them was unshakable. He never judged. He met them where they were and gave them hope, along with helping them be successful in school and learn from each other in a safe, loving environment.
Our maternal grandmother, Ruby, came to this country from Jamaica with my mom and her siblings so they could receive a good education. Our mom and her siblings lived in Hartford with family while my grandmother cleaned houses in New York during the work week. Our teachers were regarded with the highest standards of respect in our house.
Carrying on the legacy of our ancestors has been our life’s work, and we are excited to continue with AU2.
